Bleeding Hearts

I had started to make these earrings and necklace for myself and then realized after I was done that I really need to sell them. I made these yesterday morning and they are currently listed for sale in my Etsy shop.

I've had these lucite/shell heart beads for quiet some time and am in the process of making a bracelet. I'm not sure why I haven't finished the bracelet yet.. but the necklace and earrings I was able to whip out in a couple hours. Go figure :)

My current work space

My goals for between now and 1 January are:
  1. to clean up my space
  2. make a list of my partially-completed projects/pieces that need re-working
  3. to take apart old pieces that either didn't quite make it or that are just old and ugly
  4. to complete outstanding custom projects that I haven't had the chance to finish
I also have some costume jewelry that I got from my grandmother that I need to take a look at and determine which pieces I'm going to use and which ones I'm going to take apart.

My work space as it currently stands - in desperate need of clean up and organization:

Thinking Green

I worked on custom requests over the weekend for a green-themed necklace.

Since I have a number of different green types of gemstones in my collection, I made 3 necklaces to choose from.

jasp-avent2The first necklace is Ocean Jasper, Green Aventurine, Tiger's Eye and Sterling Silver.

This necklace is very delicate but very earthy. The different shades of the Green Aventurine give it depth and interest, while the subtle gold shades play off against the Tiger's Eye.

I made this necklace starting with wanting to use the Ocean Jasper as the focal point.

You can see more detail of the beads on my Flickr page - just click on the picture.

jasp-unakite2The second necklace is Blossom Jasper combined with Unakite and Black Onyx.

This necklace is a bit more chunky. I separated the focal beads of the Jasper and the Unakite with matte black seed beads and Black Onyx rounds between each focal. The result is a balanced, yet funky look. The greens and orangy-pink-reds in both pieces play nicely off of each other.

You can see more detail of the beads on my Flickr page - just click on the picture.

jade-unakite3 The third necklace is "New" Jade, Unakite, Zoisite Jasper and Amber.

This necklace has a very earthy feel to it with lots of Unakite and some Zoisite Jasper and New Jade to bring out the deeper shades of green. The Amber also ties together the Unakite and the Jasper. This piece reminds me of the forest floor and the myriad of colors and textures when walking through the woods.

Finally, I made a bracelet using Ocean Jasper, "New" Jade and Amber. I love the different colors found in the Ocean Jasper and am looking forward to working with more pieces.

My client ended up choosing the Ocean Jasper/Green Aventurine necklace, which, when it comes down to it, is the one I made for her anyway.

You may soon see the other pieces for sale on Etsy in the near future (although I'm considering keeping the Blossom Jasper necklace for myself!)

Art Daily 2007

I'm excited that I've joined the Art Daily 2007 group to help motivate and inspire to work creatively every day. Will I get 1 project a day done? I can't say for sure, but my goal is to at least work on something every day.. even after a long day at work.

It's a great goal for 2007 not only in terms of my particular art, but also to reconnect with that deeper part of me that's been neglected these past 18 months during all the turmoil in my life.

It's a new and fresh beginning! :)

Radio Ad

Lady Nin, the company in Seattle that has some of my jewelry for sale on their website is promoting this month with radio advertising on AM1090. I'm one of the artists featured this week.

Listen to the ad here: Luna's Designs Radio Ad  or if you want to hear it on the radio, you can stream the station at AM 1090

The ad will be on the air today at 11:50 am and 6:32 pm Pacific Time (it's already been on twice this morning). I don't know the times for the rest of the week, as they make those determinations the night before.

Anyway, check it out!
